History of War
War – one of the smallest words but obviously not small implications. It would pay a lot to analyse the behaviour of those people who pushed the world into war. Who would be more significant person than Adolf Hitler, whom the whole world holds responsible for the World War II.
What made Hitler to force world on such a destructive path? People say he was an evil; I would beg to differ. Why was he held responsible for the holocaust of the millions of Jews? Let’s consider his opinion about them. He proposed a theory that whole Germany was under pressure due the loss in the World War I and repayment of the loss. The economy was crumbling; Hitler held the Jews responsible for this. He proposed that the Jews were holding most of the money that would do a lot of good for the common people in Germany.
People easily believed him. They needed a scapegoat for the condition of economy. They just could not find any way out of the agonizing condition. At such time Hitler came forward to say that he could change this condition. He became the self proclaimed Fuhrer. From what we know about his behaviour, he was self-motivated and utmost blinded by the will to take over the whole world. What normal person would have done is to neglect him by denouncing him as crazy, out of his mind! But most of the people in Germany were not normal. They took his word for granted; they followed him equally blindly. They accepted his theory that Jews were responsible. And with smallest insinuation they ventured into the world’s gravest genocide – the Holocaust.
So after a little retrospection it would be wrong to denounce anyone as evil. They were surrounded by conditions and motivated by a crazy man, as they were trying to blame someone else for their own follies. But if you ask any German citizen about their history now, they feel deep regret for what their predecessors did to the world. This feeling now assures of better behaviour from them as they are ready to take the responsibility of their past; and it is the biggest step towards success. And that is what they showed when they hosted FIFA World Cup 2006 – first major event after their reunification – with great hospitality and amicability.
This analysis is important for us now, as we face the geopolitical tensions in the Middle East, North Korea, part of Latin America. If we don’t learn from History we are bound repeat it. We need to denounce crazy people as ‘crazy’ or another Hitler may rise.
